Test the Water is offered each September and allows swimmers to experience swimming competitively. After the 3-week trial program, swimmers may decide to join the Swim Team in October. This includes joining the YMCA and paying the Swim Team program fee. NOTE: An emergency contact form needs to be completed for each child.

The Swim Team season includes practices and meets through March of each year. It culminates with District and State meets. Please see the Swim Team registration form for pricing depending upon your child’s age and the number of days per week your child will practice.
The actions of each swimmer, parent and coach reflect upon the entire swim team and the Butler County Family YMCA. All members of the Butler YMCA Swim Team, as well as their parents and coaches, are expected to abide by the Code of Conduct.
By joining this swim team, all swimmers and parents agree to follow this code at all times.
Max began his swimming journey at age 8, competing for the Butler YMCA and Penn Valley Athletic Club. He later swam for Butler High School and Allegheny Valley YMCA. Max’s favorite event was the 500 Free, closely followed by the 400 IM. Max has coached at Allegheny Valley YMCA and is currently serving as head coach of SEBCO swim team. He is enrolled at Butler County Community College in the Early Childhood Education program where he intends to earn his Associate Degree. After completing the Associate’s program in the spring, Max plans to transfer to Slippery Rock University to pursue his Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. In his free time, Max enjoys running and spending time outdoors or with his family.
Luke has been involved with competitive swimming for seven years. He first began with the Alameda Gators, then joined the Butler High School swim team his freshman year. Luke’s favorite events were the 100 Butterfly and the 500 Freestyle. Luke has been teaching swim lessons at the Butler YMCA for five years. He began coaching two years ago, where he was an assistant coach for the Alameda Gators under Coach Dave Bocci. Luke continues to teach lessons at the YMCA, including working with the Jr. Barracuda program. Luke is excited about sharing his knowledge and experience with the Barracuda swim team.
Stephanie is excited to be a part of the YMCA swim team family once again. She realized that she loved swimming at 6 months of age. She began swimming for SEBCO swim team at the age of 4. Stephanie later competed for the YMCA swim team, Penn Valley and Knoch High School. She went on to swim at Westminster College, where she was a 4 year letter winner, senior captain, and member of the 1999 undefeated team. Stephanie has had experience coaching the Penn Hills High School swim team, Knoch swim team and was most recently a volunteer coach for Slippery Rock High School swim team. Stephanie has worked in the education field, either as an elementary teacher or guidance counselor, for 17 years. Her greatest accomplishment is her family. She has been happily married for 12 years and has 2 children. Stephanie enjoys early morning running, traveling and cake decorating. She treasures spending time with family and friends.
Coach Frank learned to swim at the age of 7 at Cubs Hall in a YMCA learn to swim program right before the current branch of the Butler YMCA was completed. He was on the first team that used the then new facility in 1968. Frank swam for BYAC and Butler High School before swimming for four years at John Carroll University where he made All-American status his freshman year. Frank has coached at the Butler Y off and on since 1982. Frank and his brother Larry are the owners of Frank Cicco Custom Tailors in downtown Butler. Frank has two sons who swam for the Butler Y.
Coach Corrie started swimming as a teenager and swam for both BYAC and Butler HS. She continued swimming at the collegiate level where she made All-American status as a freshman. After graduation she chose to swim with the Masters Swim Program where she attended the Masters Nationals in eight events and winning the National Title for the 1650 Freestyle and setting the record in that event. Corrie has been a part-time coach with BYAC for the past 18+ years. She also coaches the Penn Valley Swim Team over the summer. When she’s not at the pool, she is either teaching for BASD or spending time with her husband and two daughters.
