Our Curriculum

At the Y, we believe that the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for future success. Our age-appropriate, comprehensive curriculum has a clear organizational structure and focuses on routines and learning experiences.

Creative Curriculum®

The Creative Curriculum® series is a comprehensive, research-based curriculum that promotes exploration and discovery as a way of learning, enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills.  Reasearch that a whole child approach to education – one where children develop not only math and literacy skills but also the social-emotional, physical, and cognitive skills necessary to communicate, think both critically and creatively, and solve complex problems – is developmentally appropriate and better prepares children for life well beyond their time in a classroom.

  • Infants - Infants have the opportunity to explore their world with their hands, mouth, ears and eyes. Our caregivers read books, sing songs, or simply talking about the surroundings to foster language develpment.
  • Toddlers - For children age 12 months to 2 ½ years, we offer daily opportunities for large motor skill development through crawling, walking, jumping and group activities. In addition, this age group solves puzzles, builds with blocks, scribbles on paper, initiates make-believe play and uses verbal phrases.
  • Early Learning - Children ages 2 ½ to 5 years are encouraged to make self directed choices from a number of interest centers where they will draw, cut and glue, run, hop, throw, catch, climb, build with blocks, tell stories, sing, dance, act, learn letters, count, play with others and more.

Healthy Habits

We are dedicated to creating healthy habits at an early age. From getting the proper amount of phyical activity to making healthyfood choices, our curriculum is designed to develop lifelong habits and have fun while doing it.

  • Physical Activity - Each day, your children play games with their peers in the gym or outside when the weather permits. Our early learning classrooms are provided swim lessons every Friday.
  • Healthy Meals - Your child shares meals and snacks with their peers, where they learn to make healthy food choices. All meals exceed USDA requirements, as we follow the Healthy Eating Standards put forth by the YMCA of the USA.
  • Beyond the Classroom - Children will learn about more than eating when it comes to food. They’ll also get to dig in with hands-on gardening and cooking activities.
